Sporty’s have finally designed the perfect pilot flashlight. The Flight Gear LED Flashlight is constructed with aircraft-grade aluminium. A focusing bezel provides both flood and spotlight options. Independent buttons for both red and white light mean you won’t have to scroll through one to get to the other. In addition, if one colour of light is on and you want to switch to the other, the first colour automatically shuts off. Both colours have a high and low setting, and they are pilot-friendly organized.

Flashlight Operation

The pilots at Sporty’s custom-designed this light specifically for flying at night. We went above and beyond to make sure this flashlight was perfect for our needs as general aviation pilots.

Red Light

The red light is activated by the raised red button. The first press is low and provides just the right amount of light in the cockpit. The second press is high and is great for loading/unloading cargo. If you leave the low setting on for more than 5 seconds, the next press will turn the light off. No scrolling through a bright red light to deactivate the light.

White Light

The white light is activated by the black button. The first press is high for maximum preflight illumination. The second press is low and helps to conserve battery life. If you leave the high setting on for more than 5 seconds, the next press will turn the light off. No scrolling through the low white setting just to turn the light off.

Intelligent Light

There isn’t a situation in aviation where you would need both colors of light on at the same time. For this reason, if you are using one color of light and activate a different color, the original color will deactivate. This preserves battery life.

The Flight Gear Flashlight uses two AA batteries (included), just like most ANR headsets. No need to carry exotic battery types for a special light. Included wrist lanyard makes it easy to stow and will help keep it from rolling around on the floor next to your rudder pedals. Measures approx. 7" long.

The two Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) that most pertain to pilot currency are printed directly on the side of the flashlight.
