The ACK E-04 121.5/406 MHz ELT is designed for both General and Commercial aviation. Older generations of ELT’s were very limited in their ability to rapidly locate and identify a downed aircraft. Often it took several passes of the orbiting satellites to get an approximate fix on a downed aircraft and were unable to provide rescuers information regarding the type of aircraft, owner/ operator or emergency contact information. Location accuracy was limited to about a 15-20 mile radius and it could take several hours to provide accurate location data. All this lead to longer rescue times and exposure to the elements.

The new generation of 406 MHz ELTS by ACK, has vastly improved speed, information provided to rescuers and accuracy. Without GPS information, the time to locate the aircraft position is 1-2 hours  with a search radius of only 2 miles. With GPS information the time to locate the aircraft is 10 minutes or less, with an accuracy of about 300 feet. All while providing rescuers information about the aircraft and yourself.

The model E-04 can be installed without interfacing it to the aircrafts GPS system, however we strongly recommend that when available the GPS data be supplied to the ELT. For aircraft that do not have GPS data available, the unit can be interfaced with low cost GPS data receivers, including Garmin Aviation, Bendix/ King Aviation and NMEA 0183 GPS position data.

You must register the transmitter before activating it. This is a service that Transair offer free of charge. Simply place your order and we will be in contact by the next working day to confirm all information required. After this you must update your registration every two years.
