The Tri-Laminate Gore-Tex MILFR720/Nomex suit is made for constant use, is reinforced with Kevlar Ripstop in the knee, elbow and seat to combat wear, and has been designed to be easily donned and comfortably worn.

The U-Zip-It Suit sets itself apart from other dry suits with its proprietary U-shaped zipper, allowing the wearer to don and off the suit without assistance. The design of the zipper also allows for more natural movement, without interference from the zipper, when maneuvering inside and outside the aircraft. Further, the zipper allows for seated relief for men or women without completely removing the suit. The articulated knees and elbows, as well as the gusseted underarms, allow for a higher level of comfort either sitting or standing. An internal suspender system allows the top half of the suit to be removed when working outside the aircraft.

The latex wrist and neck seals provide the highest level of protection from water entry. Inside the neck and wrist seals is a Nomex fabric cuff that reduces wear on the cuff when donning, provides a softer material as a barrier between skin and latex, and provides an added layer of protection from melted latex in the event of a flash fire.

The suit is tailored for each user, taking into account chest, hip, sitting inseam and sleeve length.

Switlik offers the option of two different zip-in liners to provide for maximum warmth and survivability. The Summer Weight Zip-In Liner is a single ply of PolarTec Fleece that extends from the elbows to the knees. The Winter Weight Zip-In Liner is a double ply of PolarTec that extends from elbow to ankle.

Switlik recommends a pool test once a year, and a leak check performed by one of our Authorized Service Centers every two years. Also included are care and cleaning directions for the suit in between uses.

A Switlik U-Zip-It Suit has a life expectancy of approximately 10 years. Of course, this will depend greatly on the frequency of use, type of use, and general upkeep of the suit. Switlik performs service for every US Coast Guard U-Zip-It Suit. The USCG considers the useable life of the suit to be 10 years as well, and scraps suits older than 10 years.
